Politics comes from the word polis meaning city. Politics means the affairs of the city. When your civilisation reaches a state beyond being a mere city-state, politics will always rear its ugly head.
Political activism always has the objective of changing the rules ie the law and its application to which members of the group.
When things get bad enough, it will be about changing the moral system on which the laws of the state is based.
We have now reached that stage.
