On the idiocy of idolatry

While the generally understood definition of idolatry is "the worship of anything that isn't God", its more nuanced meaning is "the cardinal error of worshiping anything less powerful than yourself".

Worship in this sense means "being guided by". An atheist could be said to be guilty of worshiping his own dumb opinions.

As I am sure you will agree, the opinion of the atheist is in fact less powerful than the atheist himself since the atheist is in theory capable of changing his own opinion.
