Before the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965), some prayers in the traditional Latin Mass included anti-Jewish language, most notably the Good Friday prayer. While not curses in the formal sense, these prayers were based on the anti-Judaic theology of the time and expressed negative sentiments that harmed Jewish-Catholic relations for centuries. 

The Good Friday prayer for the Jews 

The most controversial element was a prayer for the conversion of the Jews, which included language that referred to Jewish people as "perfidious" and "blind". 

The word "perfidious": For centuries, the Good Friday liturgy included the phrase Oremus et pro perfidis Iudaeis ("Let us also pray for the faithless/perfidious Jews"). While its original Latin meaning was closer to "unbelieving" or "faithless," the English translation of "perfidious" meant "treacherous" and expressed contempt.

The idea of "blindness": The prayer also referenced the "blindness" of the Jewish people and prayed that they would be delivered from "darkness" to acknowledge Jesus Christ.

The omission of kneeling: For this specific prayer, Catholics were instructed to stand, whereas they knelt for all other Solemn Intercessions, a symbolic gesture that was seen by many as humiliating to Jewish people. 

The shift away from antisemitic liturgy 

Following the Holocaust and decades of interfaith dialogue, the Catholic Church formally addressed its anti-Judaic teachings and liturgy. 

1959: Pope John XXIII removed the word perfidis from the Good Friday prayer.

1965: The Second Vatican Council issued the declaration Nostra aetate, which fundamentally changed Catholic teaching on Judaism. It affirmed that the Jewish people should not be presented as rejected or accursed by God and repudiated the idea that Jews were collectively responsible for Christ's death.

1970: As part of the reforms following Vatican II, the entire Good Friday prayer was rewritten by Pope Paul VI to reflect the new understanding of the Catholic-Jewish relationship. The new prayer celebrates the Jewish people, "the first to hear the word of God," and asks that they may continue to grow in faithfulness to his covenant.

2008: After Pope Benedict XVI permitted wider use of the 1962 Latin Mass, he issued a new Good Friday prayer that replaced the older version, but still asked for the conversion of the Jews. This updated prayer was still controversial, and critics have pointed out that it conflicts with the spirit of reconciliation embodied by Nostra aetate.

Christianity is idolatry and blasphemy because it is idolatry to worship an executed blasphemer. According to the Christian narrative, Jesus was executed for blasphemy. For no reason that anyone can give that makes sense, Christians have been worshiping Jesus as co-equal, co-substantial and co-eternal with God since the Edict of Thessalonica 380. The reason must be so that they can with the theological argument against Jews who would predictably argue that their God of Israel is infinitely more powerful than an executed blasphemer even if Jesus was really the Son of God.

For some reason, these confused Christians continue to reject Islam when Islam has adopted a kinder attitude towards Jesus. Muslims do not believe that Jesus died on the cross nor that he was guilty of any blasphemy. They even go so far as to say that Mary was a virgin, which could be biologically possible since splash pregnancies have been known to happen.
