The most important thing about human rights is whether they are legally enforceable. Are they? https://t.co/DVTFCCA9SY

What @holland_tom means is he hopes his rights will get enforced by his corrupt and incompetent ruling classes. What he does not know is that we are all the slaves of our government whose so-called rights can be ignored at any time by a judiciary stripped of its independence.

As a historian, Tom Holland should have heard of proscription and would know that even the most wealthy and powerful can be stripped of their wealth, power and even their lives over trumped up charges. https://t.co/SpTo8Fbvf3

If all Tom Holland is really saying is that he has faith that liberalism will triumph over all moral systems, on what does he base his faith? And is his faith not more illogical than those who believe in the perfectly moral Abrahamic God who will punish evil and reward good?

Has Tom Holland not noticed that religions last significantly longer than secular political ideologies? His book Dominion conflates Christianity with Liberalism without mentioning that the American, French and Russian Revolutions have been rejections of Christianity and monarchy.

Has Tom Holland not noticed the Church of England was established by Henry VIII in order to be a Creature of the State? Since the recent revolutions have been rejections of monarchy and Christianity, it is no surprise the priesthood and monarch have been minding their Ps and Qs.

Why would any absolute monarch suffer to be a mere constitutional monarch if not for fear of regicide? The Russian Revolutionaries made it quite clear to the Romanovs that Russians have had quite enough of monarchy and would not ever countenance its return in Russia.

Has Tom Holland not noticed Christianity is so kaput that its replacement of liberalism is also kaput? And has he not noticed that Nationalism and Socialism, and even National Socialism have been attempts to replace failed liberalism? Can liberalism be said to be operational?

It is religious groups that are the most powerful human groups since it is religious groups that survive even ancient empires. If our moral system is failing, the obvious next step is to decide if it can be fixed. Why use a broken and failed system when there are better ones?

There are only five world religions. Of the five, the Eastern religions of Hinduism and Buddhism can be dismissed as not being good enough for Asians, and certainly not good enough for the administrators of a global empire. Islam is an imperial religion.

While Christian nationalism keeps trending on Twitter, Christian nationalists who would be Trump supporters will not get the agreement of other Americans to pass a Christian Amendment taking the retrograde step of making America a Christian Republic.

Michael Servetus was burned at the stake in Geneva in 1553 at the behest of John Calvin. There is nothing inherently more virtuous in a republic unless it has a moral system supported by divine revelation from the most powerful being conceivable ie the Abrahamic God.

It is the easiest thing in the world to prove that the Doctrine of the Trinity was cooked up by a bunch of bishops who couldn't even agree, called to a Council by an emperor who wasn't even Christian. The origins of established Christianity were clearly the opposite of divine.

If as Slaves of the Government we realise that being the Slaves of God gives us more rights than what our corrupt and incompetent ruling classes are prepared to grant us, then it would be rational to choose obey the laws of God. There is no requirement to even believe in God.

There are only two divine revelations from the Abrahamic God: the Torah and Koran. The New Testament is not even by Jesus, let alone God. Christianity suffers from the defect of being idolatry, blasphemy as well as being guided by low status scripture from men of dubious origins.
