Who agrees with Jay that Trump lost the 2020 election on the basis of his performance in the first presidential debate? Who in a polarised society engaged in a class and culture war would change his mind on the basis of a single presidential debate? Classic post hoc fallacy.

After ingesting news and views from mainstream media, Jay has been sufficiently influenced by it to believe the propaganda of the pollsters and what the media has been saying about Trump losing his mojo. Watching his most recent rally in Montana, I don’t share this impression.

If Trump loses, it won’t be because of what Jay said ie that he isn’t campaigning hard enough in the summer or that he was critical of Joe Rogan. Jay horrifies me because he is the archetype of Western men who are unprincipled, convictionless atheists who believe in nothing.

Jay has a 50:50 chance of being right, in his view. If we are to respect his punditry, he would have to have been firm on whether the 2020 election was stolen. If it was stolen, Trump won. If it wasn’t, then Trump lost because of his performance on the first debate.

Just to be clear, I want to take a position against irrational and inaccurate thinking based on selfish unprincipled motives to show I favour principled action based on sound judgement.
I’m not saying it’s impossible that Harris would win or Trump would lose, but I entirely reject the idea that if Trump loses, it would be because he has not been campaigning hard enough in August or because he was critical of Joe Rogan. @RealVinBruno
