Gay marriage is "complicated and dangerous"

In this video, *Paul VanderKlay* explores his thesis that embracing "marriage equality" acts as a "poison pill" for *Protestant* churches. He argues that this shift threatens the institutional vitality of these churches by undermining the traditional, archetypal ideal of one-man-one-woman marriage (9:00 - 3:12:36).

**Key themes include:**

*   **Desire and Religion:** Drawing on *James Wellman Jr.*'s book *High on God*, *VanderKlay* posits that the desire for "emotional energy" is at the heart of religion (31:42 - 36:51). He discusses the *Durkheimian* concept of *homo duplex*—the tension between the individual and the collective—and how people use institutions to mirror their internal ideals (38:26 - 39:27).
*   **The Role of Stories and Ideals:** Throughout the video, *VanderKlay* uses clips of *Jordan Peterson* in conversation (with *Danica Patrick* and *Jonathan Pageau*) to analyze how humans organize their lives around archetypal stories and ideals. He emphasizes that attention is a form of desire and a critical component in shaping how we perceive reality (1:22:33 - 1:23:36, 1:52:21 - 1:53:28).
*   **Church Institutional Dynamics:** *VanderKlay* details the internal conflicts within the *Christian Reformed Church (CRC)* regarding the *Human Sexuality Report*, specifically noting how the move toward marriage equality triggers "purity dynamics" that he believes lead to institutional decay (21:50 - 23:25, 3:11:23 - 3:12:20).

*VanderKlay* acknowledges that his arguments are complex and "unfinished," inviting viewers to participate in the conversation by thinking through these nuanced intersections of theology, psychology, and church polity.

*Paul VanderKlay* focuses on *Protestant* churches primarily because of their unique structural and historical relationship with the state, the nation-state, and how they define and manage internal

Key reasons highlighted in the video include:

*   **Church Polity and Authority:** *Protestant* denominations, such as the *Christian Reformed Church (CRC)* and the *Presbyterian Church (USA)*, often utilize decentralized or synodical governance. This makes them particularly susceptible to internal divisions when faced with modern social shifts like marriage equality (4:35-4:48, 24:06-24:35).

*   **The Two-Speed Religion:** Drawing on *Charles Taylor's* concept of "two-speed religion," *VanderKlay* notes that *Protestantism* reconfigured the medieval balance of clergy and laity. He argues that the modern *Protestant* model relies on the nuclear family as a replacement for the monastery, making clergy behavior and marital ideals central to the institution's stability (22:48-23:06, 2:30:06-2:30:29).

*   **The Quest for Ideals:** *VanderKlay* suggests that religions are sustained by communal striving toward archetypal ideals. He posits that *Protestant* institutional structures—which often default to literal interpretations of the Bible to resolve conflicts—struggle to navigate the shift away from the traditional, male-female model of marriage, which he views as a fundamental, archetypal ideal (30:00-30:49, 3:02:00-3:03:01).

**Sharia** protects lineage (*nasl*) as one of its five fundamental objectives (*Maqasid al-Shariah*), ensuring the preservation of family structure, identity, and social stability. This protection is achieved through strict regulations on marriage, the prohibition of adultery (*zina*) and fornication, and the ban on adoption that severs biological ties, thereby maintaining clear and unambiguous parentage.

Key mechanisms include:

*   **Legal Punishments**: Imposing *hadd* punishments for adultery and slander (*qazf*) to deter acts that corrupt lineage or falsely accuse individuals.

*   **Family Law**: Mandating marriage for legitimate reproduction and requiring children to be attributed to their biological father, prohibiting claims to other lineages.

*   **Inheritance Rights**: Distributing wealth according to fixed Quranic shares to ensure financial security for all legal heirs, preventing the deprivation of rightful family members.

*   **Prohibitions**: Banning abortion and infanticide to protect unborn life and future generations, and forbidding the mixing of lineages through illegitimate relationships.

31:00  "Complicated and dangerous"

I discussed artificial wombs with my then streaming partner Vincent Bruno for a while who thought it was the future. He is a gay married man proud of his mad scientist ideas who thought it would be a good idea to make females extinct, all men gay and only allow the attractive ones to become two-father couples.

I entertained the idea without accepting it and asked him how it would be decided which of the couple would be the one who would stay home to look after the child.

He said the children could be farmed off to a creche and the "parents" have it at weekends.

I then asked how it would be decided whose DNA the child would carry and presumed it would be the one who could most afford to pay for the artificial womb. But why would the less wealthy gay man want to stay home and look after a child that is not even his?

About the creche, he quoted Obama saying "It takes a village to raise a child."

But Americans don't live in villages. Instead, they move from state to state like gypsies just to get a job that can support a middle class family, assuming no fault divorce does not break up the family.

Vincent gave up on this scheme after his hope of mass produced artificial wombs made in China failed to materialise.

Why do American husbands claiming to be Christian refuse to discuss the abolition of no fault divorce?

Below is how the Church of England used to regard marriage before Parliament made it gay.

DEARLY beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this company, to join together this Man and this Woman in holy Matrimony; which is an honourable estate, instituted of God, signifying unto us the mystical union that is betwixt Christ and his Church: which holy estate Christ adorned and beautified with his presence and first miracle that he wrought in Cana of Galilee, and is commended of Saint Paul to be honourable among all men: and therefore is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined. If any man can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace.

Simone and Malcolm Collins previously worked in venture capital and technology sectors. Simone previously served as the managing director for Dialog, a secretive invite-only social club co-founded by investor Peter Thiel who promotes Nick Land and his dystopian predictions of the future when, apparently, "capitalism will reach a singularity and replace humanity", whatever this means. Malcolm previously worked as a venture capitalist at TheVentures in South Korea.

They are not the boy and girl next door.

Malcolm is the great-grandson of Carr Collins Sr., founder of the Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company, and grandson of James M. Collins, a Dallas, Texas businessman and politician. In 1997, Malcolm's parents undertook a contentious divorce and custody dispute; the proceedings were characterized by one judge as "extensive, bitter and long-lasting". During the divorce, Malcolm was ordered to live at a private boarding school funded by a family trust. The divorce was finalized in 2001. It was discovered in 2021, upon the death of James Collins's wife Dorothy Dann Collins Torbert, that some $29 million had been embezzled from the family trust fund by Barbara Chalmers, the family bookkeeper. Reflecting on his childhood, Malcolm noted that he has "no beef with my parents. My childhood was hard, but my adulthood has been easy. Can I say a parent did a bad job if I’m happy with my life today? I don’t think so."

Simone was born in Japan as a self-described "mistake baby" and the only child to a failed polyamorous marriage. At some point in her life, Simone experienced eating disorders that gave her fertility issues.
